Lupe Fiasco from 2 of his fans perspective.

Brittany's POV:
"Every time I hear ENEMY OF THE STATE its like I'm falling in love hip hop all over again. With the recent disappointment of FRIEND OF THE PEOPLE being cancelled, fans old and new have no choice but to rock out to past mix tapes and CDs. Lupe the Fiasco's much anticipated mix tape would have gave 'the people' much more to talk about. His ENEMY OF THE STATE mix tape was defiantly dumbed down as compared to FAHRENHEIT 115 & REVENGE OF THE NERDS. Those mix tapes were only introductions as to what would the future would hold. The Chicago native brings something new to the table. His metaphors adds fuel to the fire. I was past ecstatic when I first heard KICK, PUSH being played on the radio. For most, it was love at first listen. But for me, I fell in love with LUPE when I first heard him on the DIDN'T YOU KNOW remix by THE RAYNE. "...I fell, prognostication premonition intuitions unto no avail, psychic see and tea leaf reading horoscope crystal ball and all of them as well ...", that line caught my attention like none other. That was when I knew that the 'game has changed'. 'Who is LUPE FIASCO?' was the question I had to get an answer too. After googling and countless hours of 'research' I found my answer ...

In the fall of 2006 FOOD AND LIQUOR dropped. After listening to the CD over and over again, I came to realization that Lupe had dedicated SUNSHINE to me (lol). ..."had a feeling it would be a day like this, the orchestra in my mind don't like this ... got a lil rare for it brushed off my airs even cut my hair for it ..." But you cant forget about LUPE on SPRAY PAINT & PENS, pure greatness!! LUPE, KANYE, and PHARRELL surprised us all when they came up with the group CRS (child rebel soldier). LUPE being the child, KANYE being the rebel, and PHARRELL being the soldier. It gave me hope that three of the most talented artist would pair up and come out with a CD, unfortunately they only teased us with US PLACERS & SKY HIGH GRADUATES. Rumor has it that CRS is/was working on an album that was 'suppose' to come out late 2009 or early 2010. Its obvious it didn't come out this year, so all we can do is wait .. patiently .. for 2010." To be continued...

Alton's POV:

"I got on lupe when I got his first cd. I love every track on it. My favorite song is "Daydreamin' " because he was on some real shit. Like he covered every aspect of rap on those verses. Then to have Jill Scott on the hook, oh so lovely.
Lu is one of the best, if not the best real hip hopper left in the game to make sick songz without talkin about what he got. "Put You on Game" and "Lupe the Killa" are my 2 all time favorites. You gotta be in college to understand half of "Put You on Game".
In this day and age in rap there are to many followers. Everyones doing what the hottest nigga out there doing which waters-down music in a since. Lupe makes song from which, he can relate to himself as well as the fans the he may be speaking to. Songs which last a life time. This is Pyro Kuz signing out for my nigga Petey aka Thee Koolest (4 Starz Bitch)"

Parrish's POV:

Now damn! What more can I say after that and she's not even finished?? She's obviously an avid Lupe fan like myself. So everything she's saying has been in the back of my mind as well. Pyro's perspective is also from a point of view from someone into all kinds of Hip Hop. Well I'll start here. Hip Hop is dead! Not breathing at all and it seems like nobody has enough time or money to revive it. Nobody cares anymore, People listen to Gucci Mane and Lil Wayne for a fix of bass bumping hotness but how long does that last. How long can you continue to listen to a song with no meaning? The beat only stays fresh for so long. I won't lie before Lupe I was listening to that stuff too. It was cool and I was young and dumb.

So when I did hear Lupe, OMG. I thought to myself "Wow, whos this guy? He kinda reminds me of myself." Nerdy guy who didnt care what people thought of him and his music. It started off with Kanye but I didnt see the connection as much. Ask my friends, I was a hardcore Kanye West fan until "Touch the Sky". Lupe Fiasco? Who's that and he really just killed this track! Too bad there was so many metaphors that I kept me thinking about it for the longest time. Lol, nothing wrong with that. So I did my research and got the mixtapes. It was like I already heard this all before because it was so real! Not wanting to make this even longer than it is. I'll just skip over some stuff.

As Lupe Fiasco went on in his career, His music grew on me so much. Especially when "I Gotcha" came out. That is my favorite music video ever for the following reasons: Nintendo DS, Atari, and the video was so geeky? Im a gamer and that drew me in more than anything. Finally I had a rapper that wasn't too much worried about Diamonds and cars. Im pretty sure Lupe has all of that but he doesn't flaunt it.

Now every time I listen to his music, I have to sit there listen and maybe play the Xbox. Something to clear my mind while I try to understand the music that he's giving to us all. I love it though, because the lasting duration of that song is so much greater while trying to crack each code of every metaphor. His song "The Coolest" is my favorite to decipher. It reminds me so much of myself and my wife in the first verse. "She would be my Queen, I could be her King! Together and she would make me cool and We would both rule! Forever!" I feel that Me and her together are the most goofy couple ever, but so many people have doubted us and challenged our relationship over this year. We have yet to fall.

Lupe Fiasco's songs have gotten me through so much because its so pure. He's reviving Hip Hop with his poetry in rhyme. Yet he doesn't get the recognition nor does Common, Mos Def, Little Brother, Wale, Talib Kweli and etc... If you think Wale's "Nike Boots" is just about shoes, You got it backwards. Slum Village has great music but I can barely go to another state and ask someone who they are. They say "who?" I've never heard of them and some people don't even know who Lupe is. It annoys me, but I try to spread the word. Only the Lord knows how many Lupe fans I've created.

So I'll end with this.. I just want people to listen to some real Hip Hop and understand why I am such a big Lupe fan. Why I steer clear of alot of the "Mainstream" garbage that we have out. Lupe Fiasco is more than a rapper to me. He's more a teacher, poet or mentor. His words aren't east to remember because they're so in depth. In order to understand Lupe Fiasco, You would have to study Lupe Fiasco. Who know's whats in this guys head? It great though and everyone should take it in. Remember that a beat only lasts so long, but the words that you hear will last forever!

DECEMBER 10, 2009

Hi guys...Lupe Here...

There seems to be a lot...A LOT...of misconception and misguided info floating around the net...so for the sake of clarity and so that everyone (HOPEFULLY) will be on the same page let me reaffirm and debunk some things and just turn down the general noise that is surrounding Lupe Fiasco...thats me...

My Third Album is Titled "LASERS" not "WE ARE LASERS" or "LUPE.N.D."...

MY NEXT ALBUM IS NOT TITLED "LUPE.N.D."...

"LASERS" is NOT my last and final album...

"LASERS" does NOT drop in 2009...

"LASERS" does NOT HAVE A RELEASE DATE YET...

"SOLAR MIDNITE" is NOT a single off of "LASERS"...Nor was it intended to be apart of "LASERS" project...

"SOLAR MIDNITE" was exclusively done at the request of the Twilight: New Moon Team to be apart of their film, motion picture soundtrack and as a vehicle to promote the film...NOT TO PROMOTE "LASERS"...

I produced "SOLAR MIDNITE"

I'm not SELLING OUT by doing a song for NEW MOON...

People thought I "SOLD OUT" when I did "Kick, Push"...

I LOVE "SOLAR MIDNITE"...

"SOLAR MIDNITE" is NOT a HIP-HOP RECORD...

I've done ROCK or ROCK-like records on all of my previous albums...i.e. "The Instrumental" "Hello/Goodbye"...

I HAVE A PUNK BAND CALLED JAPANESE CARTOON WHICH I SING IN AND PRODUCE FOR...I DO NOT GO BY "LUPE FIASCO" WHEN I DO SONGS WITH JAPANESE CARTOON...NOR PERCIVAL FATS!!!...I USE MY REAL NAME...

Enemy Of The State was NOT, NOT, NOT meant to be an album...so stop (to the ungrateful among you) TREATING it like one...

Enemy Of The State was short for a reason...I DONT LIKE TO WASTE SONGS...AND IT SHOULDN'T TAKE YOU THAT LONG TO PROVE YOUR NICE IF YOUR "REALLY" NICE...

ENEMY OF THE STATE WAS WATERED DOWN ON PURPOSE...BECAUSE ITS NOT AN ALBUM...

MOST OF ENEMY OF THE STATE WAS DONE IN ONE DAY...

IF YOU DONT HEAR IT FROM ME OR DJ BUSY IT MAY NOT BE THE COMPLETE TRUTH!!!

Its more noise out there and stupid rumor but I really don't have the stamina...

FNF UP...

J. Cole on the Cover of Beyond Race Mag

Everyone already knows I'm a huge fan of Cole so this is a big look. I remember when I first heard him, I knew he was going to be a problem, hopefully we'll see more good press from this guy in the future.

Blackstreet singer Teddy Riley uses Rockband Guitar for abuse on daughters?

I really dont know what to say about this?? Just wtf?? Who does that? I understand getting pissed at the game and messing up the controllers, but that's something hardcore gamers do. Not hit your kids with the damn guitar! Get your head right dude!

This is the article from Kotaku via- TMZ

The daughter of 43-year-old Blackstreet singer Teddy Riley has been granted a temporary restraining order against her dad after he allegedly abused his two daughters with a Rock Band guitar.

See, Rock Band is all about bringing people together, not tearing families apart. According to documents filed in LA County Superior Court and reported by TMZ, Teddy's 18-year-old daughter Taja claims that he spent a major portion of December 23rd "stomping, punching, and bashing" she and her older sister. Taja stated that at one point the singer "lifted a Rock Band guitar and threatened to kill person(s) w/ it." I think we can all agree that's not how a Rock Band controller is supposed to be used.

Domestic violence is a terrible thing, and shouldn't be treated lightly, so I don't want to hear anyone in the comments section suggesting the singer should learn how to swing a real guitar instead of screwing around with a plastic one.

Ice T plays Modern Warfare 2?

Apparently Ice T's really good at this game. I cant lie, I dont really care too much for this dude. It's cool that he's a gamer though. These were his accolades from the Game he played online with Kotaku. They're pretty good but I have gotten them myself. I give him props though.

Ice-T's top three Accolades for the session:

The Show
10 kills/No deaths

Supernatural
Kill/Death ration over 10

Immortal
Highest kill/death ratio

None of which are easy Accolades in the slightest. Yep, you gonna die!

"Young Forever" Jay-Z | Mr. Hudson (OFFICIAL VIDEO)

Here's Jay-Z's new video for the last track on the Blueprint 3, Young Forever. I like the video, it's pretty abstract, nothing like your average rap video. I like the black and white theme, it fits the song. The performance scene is awesome, if you've been to one of the shows on the Blueprint 3 tour you know that Jay finishes with this song and the crowd really does sing like that, it's amazing. Overall I give this video a 8/10. I like the song, but I know many people was hoping for something else to follow Empire State of Mind. Hopefully we'll get one more video from Jay off the Blueprint 3.

Lupe... Is he right or wrong??

Recently on the LupE.N.D. blog. It was announced that he would be releasing his "Friend of the People" mixtape on Christmas day. It was to follow the "Enemy of the State" mixtape. He canceled it because he will be climbing Mt. Kilamanjaro. Which I can fully understand why he did that. Fans were mad at the fact that he did this and they voiced their opinions on it. It wasn't pleasant from the few that were angry but most of his fans had his back. The reason for what K1ng Eljay wrote was because of the response from Lupe. It can be found here... The LupE.N.D. Blog: Friend of the People is Cancelled. Share your opinons on the situation and read K1ng Eljay's response here.

Dj Hero

Dj Hero has been out since October but I feel I should still share my feelings on it. First off, I love hip hop and I believe that Dj'ing kind of began with Hip-hop. So of course I'd like to see the game have a lot to do with Hip-hop. I cant really say it does though.... Don't get me wrong, the game is fun as hell and very cutting edge compared to Guitar Hero. Why cant I hear some Common or KRS One?? I hear Michael Jackson (R.I.P.) and Rick James (also R.I.P.) but that's not what I think of when I think of being a DJ. Is it just me? I can honestly say that I only think of Rap/Hip-Hop and some kind of Techno (because of Daft Punk) when I think of a DJ. This game just doesn't have it and that's why the Turntable is in my closet right now. Im sure one day, I'm going to pick back up and play, but I was disappointed with about 70% of the songs. You can check the track list out here..... http://www.djhero.net/dj-hero/dj-hero-song-list/

I also posted a video of me playing one of the mixes that I actually did like. Wale-Chillin'/M.I.A.-Paper planes

Modern Warfare 2 Review

The expectations for this game were probably higher then any other game ever! Some people looked for the story to be more amazing then COD 4's and others (like Myself) were looking for alot more to be added on to the multiplayer. Now if you wanted a better story I can say it is good but it doesnt have the same effect as the first Modern Warfare. This one is more about the action and excitement compared to the first which led up to it and surprised you with a big epic moment! I still like the story alot but others may not.

On the other hand, the wasn't much more than what I expected! Everything is great and will keep you playing for a very long time, but they're are only minor upgrades. That's not a bad thing at all, but some of the other gameplay turned me away somewhat. The perks are the biggest change. In the first Modern Warfare the perks weren't able to make you nearly unstoppable. You can add the Ninja perk where you cant be detected by UAV's and Marathon where you can run non stop. That causes people to run around the map and stab people and get 20-30 kills. It really turns the game off to people like me, who just like the fact that it takes skill to find a weapon you like and kill the other person better than they can you. That is only my opinion though and I'm sure that there are people who won't mind. It won't stop me from playing the multiplayer completely though. There are things that I love. Like the Kill Streaks are customizable now. So you can have a Sentry Gun, AC 130, and even a Nuke that ends the match completely. Its pretty cool and helps players feel more unique. One thing I can say isn't fair is the "No Party Chat" option. I dont like talking to other players because of the crazy/crude things they say. I would rather just not deal with it and talk to the friends I'm playing with. Other than that though, the multiplayer is probably the best one out there and you shouldn't pass it up.

Last but not least is the Special Op's mode. They are short and straight to the point missions either solo or Co-op with a bud. It reminds me of Rainbow Six: Vegas Terrorist hunt or Gears of War's 2 Horde modes. They are very fun and add a lot to extend how long you were going to play this game anyways. In a nut shell, this is probably one of the best games ever for the 360 and PS3 Gen. This game is clearly a shining diamond and should be tried out be everyone. :

The Beatles Rockband Review

I love music games just as much as any other gamer, but after a couple of the Guitar Hero's and Rockbands. I found myself bored with it. I traded in the Guitar Hero's because I felt that Rockband was getting the gameplay right and in my opinion the songs were much more catchy. That may be because I listen to more hip-hop than anything and when i do hear rock music it's usually on MTV. So of course they have alot of that music in there games. BUT ON WITH THE BEATLES ROCKBAND!

This game is very authentic for the band. I only know because one of my best friends loves the Beatles and I have learned some things about them since then. I like the fact that the game tweaked alot of different things on the visual side to make this game look kind of like the 70's era. Examples- when you hit a note small stars spark up from the track, The notes at the bottom have a more squared vintage look, and the characters and atmosphere are very authentic to what you could see at a Beatles show. The game really has the 70's trippy look, lol. If you know what I mean. Especially when you get into some of their songs where they depict what the song is about in the background. Such as being under water for Yellow Submarine. It's a very cool feature that made this game very different.

As far as features go, everything as the other Rockband's are the same. There is a new feature where you and 3 friends can use the mic and instruments also. That is very cool feature but it's one of the only ones that I have noticed.

The Story mode takes you through the biggest performances of The Beatles. With each venue there are screaming fans and huge crowds to set the mood. the more you collect 5 stars you recieve photo's of the band and everytime you finish the 4-5 song set you recieve a challenge. Which is pretty much a high score challenge to do each song in a row.

That's pretty much it for the review. I feel that Harmonix really captured the band in a great way compared to the 2 prior Guitar Hero titles Aerosmith and Metallica. The game is worth a rent for everyone but a must buy for Beatles fans.

NBA Live 10 Review

First off, this is finally a great game by EA! The atmosphere drags you in. Seriously, the crowd and the players react to everytyhing. After clutch made shots your player will taunt down the court and the crowd will go CRAZY! Not to say that the feature doesnt have its down falls. I was in an online match and Dirk Nowitzki hit a shot and taunted after, His man ran down the court and scored because I could not get out of that animation. Overall though, the atmosphere is great; especially in play now matches where you can choose Season, Playoffs, or Finals atmospheres.

The overall gameplay is good but there are still annoying things that will happen. When you get too close to out of bounds by the baseline. Your player will tip-toe on the line and lose the ball EVERYTIME. It really sucks. Also if you drive the lane to far inside, you will also lose the ball. It's really annoying but it can be avoided if your good enough to get inside un-avoided.

The Hangar is nothing new. It's just a place to shoot around and they'll show recent sports updates from ESPN. It is good if you need to learn timing for players shots. The Addidas Live Run is where you have 5 human players pick an NBA star and you form squads. I have only played it once but I would only play with friends seeing that you have to rely on 4 other players skills.

The Online play is very entertaining. I played alot of basketball in high school and still now, so I find myself trying to play fundamental basketball while online. IT WILL NOT WORK because people will try to cross over, run in circles or anything to get around you and get to the basket. Nobody has fundamentals and its annoying because sometimes it works for them. I have figured out how to stop it but everyone has their own things to do so. The DNA feature is also great because they update the game with real stats and tendencies of players/teams for that day. It also plays along with the DNA SEASON which you can play along with the real NBA season and play games to change the outcome to how you see fit. Its really a good feature and will probably only get better and better.

All together this is a great basketball game. Hopefully they have a patch for those quirks because there are far too many turnovers because of them. Playing this game if very fun though and NBA Live has finally gave NBA 2K solid competition. So here is my final verdict. NBA Live is fast paced and a straight to fun basketball game for anyone, but not by any means is it arcady. NBA 2K is better for basketball inthusiast's seeing that the learning curve is higher, but still great because of how realistic it is. I personally like both games but I cant speak for everyone
